  • Statement of Philosophy

    The overall goal of the Elkhart Flames Soccer Club is to foster the development of youth soccer in our local area.  Specifically, the purposes are:

    1. to improve the level of youth soccer in an environment that promotes having fun as a top priority;
    2. to develop and improve the concept of team play;
    3. to foster the spirit of team and club membership;
    4. to ingrain the importance of exemplary sportsmanship, moral character; integrity, and fair play among players, parents and coaches;
    5. to support the developmental soccer programs in the community; and
    6. to promote and enhance the sport of soccer.

    Highly competitive games are an important aspect of our soccer program.  Most travel teams from other cities come from well organized soccer programs and have well trained and highly skilled teams.  The teams from the Elkhart Flames Soccer Club must be able to compete effectively.  This means that teams will win a share of games and not be embarrassed in any.  To accomplish this goal, the coach will utilize players that he or she determines will be most effective in reaching the desired outcome.  Specifically, equal play time is not a consideration at this level of competitive soccer.  Lopsided games should be avoided.

    The Elkhart Flames Soccer Club will make every effort possible to insure that each team is comprised of the best available soccer players.  To accomplish this, each team will hold try outs at the beginning of each new soccer year.

    Tournaments are held at different times throughout the year.  Each team selects which tournaments they want to attend.  Most require traveling to other cities and often overnight stays.  Competing at these highly competitive tournaments is an extremely valuable aspect of our soccer program and are the true test and reward of our efforts.

    All members of each team are responsible for funding all of the costs associated with participation.  To reach this end, all members of each team may participate in fund raising activities.  No player belonging to the Elkhart Flames Soccer Club will be prohibited from participation solely because of a lack of financial resources.

    Coaches and trainers are committed to providing challenging and productive practice sessions equitable to all players.  Each player and parent should recognize that in order to improve a player's skills and techniques, and to become a more valuable member of the team, maximum attendance at practices and games is expected.  Coach(es) must be notified regarding absences.  The Elkhart Flames Soccer Club is committed and dedicated to players playing soccer and the same commitment and dedication is expected from players and parents.

    The Elkhart Flames Soccer Club is now one of the finest and most respected soccer clubs in Indiana.  We constantly strive to improve our image and insure our reputation remains intact.  Poor sportsmanship and other disruptive behavior by players, parents or coaching staffs will not be tolerated.
